Where do trains go and how long does it take?

The heritage trains traverse along the 1km (approx.) demonstration track between St. Kilda Beach and Moana Rua (Second Beach). The railway setting is a turn of the century style railway and includes a 1:50 hill where you can hear the locomotive work.

A return trip along the demonstration track usually takes about 15mins.

Are seats reserved on the train?

No. Normally there is plenty of seating available.

How do I volunteer to work?

We welcome all volunteers, and it is real easy to join. If you would like to join the railway team please go here.

Can I bring a fold up pram or pushchair on the train?

Yes. However they must be stored in the Guards Van (Our volunteers will show you). Due to narrow doorways, they are not permitted to be taken in the carriages. If you prefer they can also be left with the volunteers inside the St. Kilda Station while you enjoy your ride.
